Housekeeping 101: Keep Your Website Up!
Keeping Your Website on the Web can be a challenge, best solution: Renew your domain and your hosting for at least 5 years into the future. This is a minimal expense when compared to restoring your website if it goes down.
You have a new credit card – the banks seems to replace my cards almost every month – the numbers change, the security codes change and the settings change (can you authorize a charge without a swipe on your new card?) When your $10 domain renewal fails, your site will go down and your email will crash – taking down current and saved emails in most cases.
Update your credit card once every 6 months with your registrar. When you change your clocks, check your credit cards on your domains/hosting accounts to be sure they are valid. Your Registrar will email you payment alerts, but if your email goes down, you will never receive the warnings!
SEO Value:
Yes, there is SEO value to having your domain renewed into the future, this helps the search engines to believe you are more credible and that you still plan on being online in the future.
